There is a Cherokee saying, "Oh Great spirit, grant that I may never find fault with my neighbor until I have walked the trail of life in his moccasins." Understanding leads to tolerance and compassion. When we understand another, when we walk in their shoes, then we can feel tolerance and compassion.
When we don't feel tolerance and compassion, and if we feel anger from that, then WE are the ones who feel bad. We feel the anger and the stress from that anger. Stress hurts us physically and emotionally. Therefore, it's in our highest good to reduce this stress.
Clutterers and hoarders are treated the way alcoholics were treated 100 years ago. Clutterers are told that they have character flaws for being this way or that they are lazy, just as alcoholics were told long ago. They feel great shame and embarrassment, which makes the situation worse. Non-clutterers often have no understanding how emotionally and physically difficult and depressing it is for clutterers.
Judgmental thoughts and comments make it worse for both - each person feels the negative emotion. Many people make comments to clutterers such as, "You just don't put the effort in.". " I can't imagine how you got this way!", "You must like it this way.", "You're a lazy slob." or finally, "I'm going to go get a dumpster and throw it all away!" A negative approach doesn't work. We need a gentler approach.
Brain chemistry drives us. Old, stuck emotions drive us. Limiting beliefs drive us. Habits drive us. Core issues drive us. These are stored in our subconscious mind. When we understand that these drive people, then we understand that a person's willpower in their conscious mind is actually very weak. The conscious mind is only 3% of the power of our mind, while the subconscious mind is 90%.
Hypnotherapy is the easiest way to gently release the negative emotions, limiting beliefs, habits and core issues. Hypnosis is the easiest way to make changes in the subconscious mind. Then when the negativity is released from the subconscious mind, the clutter can be released much easier.
